This page explains how Lumi review portal uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit lumi-casino.fi. We'll cover what gets stored, why it's there, and how you can control it.
Cookies in plain terms
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. It helps the site remember your preferences, track how you navigate through pages, and distinguish you from other visitors. Cookies don't carry viruses and they can't access other files on your computer.
On this portal, cookies fall into a few groups:
- Necessary cookies keep the site working – they handle session management and security checks.
- Analytics cookies show us which pages get read and where visitors drop off, so we can improve the content.
- Marketing cookies track whether you arrived from an affiliate link and attribute any sign-up to the right source.
What is stored and for how long
Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period – typically between 30 days and two years, depending on their purpose.
| Category | Lifespan | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Session | Until browser closes | Keeps you logged into the portal's comment system, if we add one later |
| Analytics | Up to 2 years | Tracks page views, bounce rate, time on site |
| Marketing | 30–90 days | Attributes affiliate conversions |
We don't store personal data such as your name or email address in cookies unless you've submitted a contact form – and even then, that information lives in our inbox, not in a cookie file.
Embedded third parties
This portal uses Google Analytics to measure traffic. Google sets its own cookies when you load a page, and those are governed by Google's privacy policy rather than ours. We've configured Analytics to anonymise IP addresses before logging them.
If we embed a YouTube video or a social-media widget in an article, those services may drop their own cookies the moment the element loads. We don't control what they store or how long they keep it – check the privacy policies of YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and similar platforms if you want the detail.
Declining without breaking the site
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Here's where to find the controls in the most common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Blocking all cookies will stop the analytics scripts from running, which is fine by us – it just means we won't know which pages you visited. The site itself will still load and you'll still be able to read everything. Marketing cookies can be turned off without any visible change to your experience.
Session cookies are harder to decline without side effects. If we introduce a members-only feature later – say, a saved-articles list or a comment system – those won't work without a session cookie to remember who you are. For now, there's nothing behind a login, so the point is academic.
Updates
We'll revise this policy when we add new tracking tools or change how we handle data. The current version was last updated on 16 March 2026. If a significant change happens, we'll note it at the top of the page rather than silently editing the text.
Questions about cookies or anything else on this portal can go to [email protected]. We'll reply within 48 hours.
